About Wichita Water Damage Guide
Wichita Water Damage Guide is an independent local guide that helps homeowners in Wichita, Kansas and the surrounding metro connect with licensed water damage restoration and mold remediation contractors. We are not a restoration or remediation company ourselves, and we don't send technicians to your home — we're a referral service that connects you to independent, locally operating contractors.
Contractor Licensing in the Wichita Metro
Kansas has no statewide contractor license. In the Wichita metro area (the City of Wichita, unincorporated Sedgwick County, and several partner cities), contractors performing restoration and remediation work must hold a local contractor license issued through the Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD). Licensing requires passing an ICC trade exam, holding a master-level trade certificate, and carrying at least $300,000 in general liability insurance with MABCD named as certificate holder, plus workers' compensation and commercial auto insurance. Kansas has no state-level mold remediation license or certification requirement; local MABCD contractor licensing can still apply to remediation work performed in the metro.

Because Kansas has no statewide licensing board for contractors, we encourage every homeowner to independently verify that a contractor holds a valid Metropolitan Area Building and Construction Department (MABCD) license — or the applicable local license for suburbs with their own building department, such as Derby — plus current general liability and workers' compensation insurance, before any work begins.
How We're Different From a Restoration Company
We don't perform restoration or remediation work, employ technicians, or guarantee any contractor's workmanship. Full details are in the disclaimer at the bottom of every page on this site.
